Why are my clips encrypted?

Since firmware 2026.20, Tesla encrypts dashcam clips. BenjiCam unlocks them on your device.

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. Video never leaves your device; it is decrypted locally.

Why do I need to sign in to Tesla?

Only Tesla issues the keys needed to unlock encrypted clips, so the app asks Tesla for them with your sign-in.

Do unencrypted clips work?

Yes, even without signing in.
